As a registered massage therapist, I "lend a hand" by assessing soft tissues and joints of the body to develop a treatment plan to remove or prevent dysfunction and pain. I offer a well-rounded and comprehensive treatment approach to my clients through use of through physical manipulation, hydrotherapy, remedial exercise and self-care education.

I am trained in many effective massage therapy types and techniques to address a wide range of health conditions. For a list of massage therapy types and techniques I provide please see the list below.

Deep Tissue Massage

While many people associate it with retching pain, deep tissue actually simply refers to massage affecting deeper structures. Deep tissue is used for relieving chronic tension, improving range of motion, and correcting musculoskeletal imbalance by addressing fascial restriction.

Friction Therapy

If you suffer from tendinitis, scar tissue contractures, or other repetitive strain injuries, friction therapy is your answer! Frictioning is an abrasive technique which can be tender on initial application due to working to break down adhesive tissue to allow more functional movement and reducing pain as a result.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the commonly thought of spa-like massage most people recognize for the purpose of relaxing and recovering. It is composed of a sequence of mild to moderate pressure gliding and kneading techniques used to reduce muscle tension and improve circulation.

Joint Mobilization

Small passive movements are applied to an isolated joint without any muscle involvement. These mobilizations are used to assess and treat dysfunction for reasons such as pain, muscle spasm and joint range of motion.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a layer of connective tissue under the skin that attaches to and separates muscles and organs. Techniques that release fascial restrictions can be uncomfortable during treatment but typically result in longer lasting results by increasing circulation, improving tissue extensibility and joint range of motion.

Pediatric Massage

A more gentle approach to therapeutic treatment that is geared towards sports recovery and optimal health of the growing bodies of youth. Treatments release tension, reduce the production of stress hormones, and reduces the intensity as well as amount of time discomfort is experienced after exercise.

Pregnancy Massage

A therapeutic treatment with focus on addressing the stress and physical discomfort associated with the changes expectant mother's body to promote a healthy and non-stressful pregnancy.

Soft Tissue Release

Muscles are rarely uniformly tight and instead typically only have a few affected fibres. STR aims to target those specific fibres through particular hand placements and body positioning to stretch and allow them to release and improve extensibility.

Therapeutic Stretching

Stretching is not only a great way of improving flexibility; it is also effective at minimizing the development of scar tissue and poor posture. Therapeutic stretching is applied to specific muscles during your treatment with no effort on your part but to relax!

Whether your purpose for seeking treatment is prevention, rehabilitation or simply relaxation, I will strive to find the cause of your condition, remove it and prevent it from reoccurring. If your condition is not clinically indicated to be resolved with massage therapy, I will research, discuss and make referrals to alternative treatments or professionals.
